Cisco to Set Up Manufacturing Base in Chongqing

US-based networking equipment supplier Cisco
Systems signed a formal agreement with the Chongqing municipal government on
April 29 for the establishment of a manufacturing base in the city, the
Chinese-language Commercial Times reported. As per the agreement, Cisco will
collaborate with related contract manufacturers in Chongqing on the
manufacturing of networking equipment including routers and switches. Moreover,
Cisco will become a major supplier of network infrastructure for Chongqing's IT
construction project. It is reported that the terms of the agreement also include
the establishment of an intellectual city management system, whereby Cisco will
assist Chongqing in realizing the goals of digitalized city management and
public service.
